Once the new kids on the block, sour patch kids are now fully entrenched in our candy-loving culture. They start off wonderfully sour and then leave you with a sweet finish.
This candy was all the rage back in the 80s, when a Canadian company introduced the brightly colored, intriguingly odd-looking creatures to the U.S and changed their name from Mars Men (wha?) to Sour Patch Kids. Seems the makers were hoping to associate the candy with the dolls that then held the country in thrall, "patch" and "kids" being the keys to success. While you don't hear much about those dolls anymore, these kids are as popular now as ever. Sour is apparently always in demand.
