It's 3 pm somewhere. That means it's never a bad time for these tasty treats, made by dipping fresh peanuts in real milk chocolate. Their crispy on the inside and creamy on the outside and all around delicious.
Chocolate-covered peanuts were not invented by the M & M candy company, but when peanut M & Ms were released in 1954 they became an instant success. Could have been because of Mr. Peanut, the dandy top-hat- donning, monacle-wearing, walking-cane-carrying nut. Candy connoisseurs have long lamented the demise of the original tan color of the original peanut M & Ms, which only came in that rather unexpected color to distinguish them from the plain (colorful) candies. And probably because the color was meant to suggest a peanut.
Those trick-or-treat favorites are noteworthy for their hard candy shell (and familiar bright yellow package), while these nibbles are another thing entirely, with a creamier, chocolatier coating surrounding a fresh, crispy peanut. They're decidedly non-candy snacks that you simply can't find in a vending machine, and that's a good thing.
